Control Solutions

In circumstances where modelling predictions or monitoring indicates that emissions from an activity or operation are not complying with appropriate air quality goals or criteria, Air Noise Environment is able to assist in the development of control solutions. These may take the form of process changes, physical changes (eg, stack height increase) to improve dispersion of emissions, or add on control solutions (eg, biofilters, scrubbers) to reduce the emissions. In most cases, predictive modelling is used to assess the likely benefit of the available control solutions, to assist in selecting the most effective way forward.

Project Examples:

  • Air dispersion modelling of physical control solutions for a proposed rendering plant, to determine the most effective means of achieving adequate dispersion of odour emissions from a range of processes.
  • Iterative modelling of increased stack heights for a brick works, to assess the benefit in terms of improved dispersion and lower ground level concentrations of emissions.
  • Efficiency testing of an innovative odour control solution for emissions from a small goods facility, confirmation of the suitability of the solution based on the measured control efficiency using air dispersion modelling.
  • Modelling and assessment of proposed standby generators, analysis of alternate low emission plant options in combination with improved dispersion through adoption of increased exhaust stack height.
  • Modelling, assessment and development of control solutions for particulate emissions from a large construction site.
